Three people died in four upazilas in Mymensingh in three days. All of them are believed to have died of heat stroke.

These three people died in Gafargaon, Ishwarganj and Phulpur upazilas of the district from Sunday (April 21) evening to Tuesday (April 23) afternoon.

Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex and family sources of the deceased said that after Sunday evening, Fazlul Haque Dhali (56), son of Afaz Uddin Dhali of Baghbar village of Longair Union of the upazila, returned home after shopping and went to the toilet. Being late in returning from the toilet, his mother opened the door of the toilet and saw Fazlul Haque lying there. Later, the family members took him to the hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Gafargaon Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Debashish Rajbanshi told Jago News that Fazlul Haque Dhali died before being brought to the hospital. Due to which the exact cause of death could not be ascertained. However, he also thinks that this can happen in excessive heat.

Ramzan Khalifa (55) of Sutia Bazar of Jatia Union of Ishwarganj Upazila was working in his shop on Monday (April 22). He fell down on the ground as he felt suddenly sick. He died on the spot when the locals noticed and started pouring water on his head. Ramzan Khalifa is a resident of Paiska village of the same union.

Local UP member Mizanur Rahman told Jago News that Ramzan suddenly fell ill. He later died on the spot. However, neither was taken to the hospital nor the matter was reported to the police. He is believed to have died of heat stroke.

On Tuesday (April 23) at noon, Ramzan Ali was working at Imatpur village of Koira union in Phulpur upazila. He suddenly fell ill there and died on the spot.

Ramzan Ali is the son of deceased Shukur Mahmud of Bagirpara village, Ward No. 9, Kakani Union No. 3, Tarakanda Upazila.

Tarikur Rahman Khandkar Rashed, a former UP member of Tarakanda Bagipara area, said that Ramzan Ali used to go from village to village and lend masala butter on shil-pata. Like everyday, I left home for work this morning and went to Imatpur in the neighboring Phulpur upazila. While working there, he died of a stroke in the heat of the afternoon.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Humayan Kabir told Jago News that Ramzan Ali died before reaching the hospital. However, the exact cause of his death is not known. It is believed that he died of heat stroke or some other reason due to excessive heat.
