Mohammad Delwar Hossain, the father of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) student Taufiq Hossain, who was killed in a road accident, was crying like this on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon. Taufiq is the eldest of his two sons and a daughter.
Delwar Hossain Assistant Engineer of Noakhali Municipality. He is a resident of Lakshminarayanpur area of the municipality. His son Taufiq Hossain was a second year student of Civil Engineering Department of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE).
Yesterday, Monday (April 22), two students including Taufiq were killed after being hit by a bus on the Chittagong-Kaptai road of Rangunia upazila at around 4 pm. His funeral was held on Tuesday morning at Noakhali Government College premises. Later his body was buried in the family graveyard of Laxminarayanpur area. Hundreds of people including Noakhali Municipality Mayor and District Awami League General Secretary Shahid Ullah Khan Sohail, classmates of deceased Taufiq participated in the funeral.
Tawfiq Hossain’s father Mohammad Delwar Hossain told Dhaka Post, I have nothing left. Taufiq will not come to me. I am keeping my father underground. May Allah watch over you. Please pray for my son. The one who goes knows how much pain. May Allah bless you.
Lakshminarayanpur area of Noakhali municipality is heavy with grief over Taufiq Hossain’s death. Many neighbors and relatives are trying to comfort his family. But nothing stops them from crying. Mejbah Uddin, a classmate of Tawfiq’s school (Noakhali District School) said, “We had Iftar together in the district school premises a few days before Eid-ul-Fitr. I chatted with Taufiq the day after Eid. A dear friend is gone in just a few days – I can’t believe it.
Noakhali Municipality Mayor and District Awami League General Secretary Shahid Ullah Khan Sohel told Dhaka Post that Taufiq was the eldest among the three siblings. His father had many dreams around him. Taufiq has a sister who is a class 10 student and a younger brother who is only five years old. Everyone screamed at the funeral. Even after the burial, everyone in the whole area broke down in tears. No one really wants such a death.
Incidentally, two students of Chuet were killed and one was injured after being hit by a bus on the Chittagong-Kaptai road of Rangunia upazila on Monday (April 22) around 4 pm.
The deceased are Shanto Saha, a student of the 20th batch of the civil engineering department of the university and Taufiq Hossain, a student of the 21st batch of the same department. Shanto Saha is the son of Kajal Saha of Narsingdi district headquarters and Taufiq Hossain is the son of Mohammad Delwar Hossain of Sudharam Upazila of Noakhali.
Zakaria Himu, who was injured in the incident, is a student of the 21st batch of civil engineering department. He is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare private hospital in Chittagong.
