Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that Bangladesh needs 534 billion dollars to combat climate change by 2050. Therefore, international financial support is essential for the implementation of the climate plan.

He said these things at a session of the ongoing NAP Expo at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Tuesday (April 23).

The minister said Bangladesh is committed to working with international partners to build climate resilience. Governments are committed to advancing climate adaptation efforts and ensuring a sustainable future for all citizens.

On this occasion, Saber Chowdhury emphasized the importance of proactive action, collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to face the challenges of climate change.

The session was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Farhina Ahmed. CEGIS executive director Kamalik Fida A Khan, additional secretary and chair of the International Climate Finance Cell AKM Sohel and climate expert Dr. M. Asaduzzaman spoke as a panelist on the challenges, opportunities and lessons learned in the formulation and implementation of NAP in Bangladesh.

Besides, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry Dharitri Kumar Sarkar, and Director of Environment Department Mirza Shawkat Ali presented the National Adaptation Plan of Bangladesh 2023-2050.
