In Kahalu, Bogra, a child named Rahi Moni (7) died when his angry father hit him with a market bag for not studying properly. This shocking incident took place in Saghatia village of the upazila on Tuesday (April 23) morning.
In this incident, the child’s father Abdur Rahim (40) was arrested from the registry office area in the afternoon. Mother Rizia Khatun filed a murder case against husband Rahim at Kahalu police station in the evening regarding the death of the child.
Kahalu Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ashraful Alam said that when the father hit him with a market bag for discipline, the knife inside entered the child’s stomach. The injured child was rescued and taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (Shajimek) Hospital in Bogra, where doctors declared him dead. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue. Apart from that, the knife has been seized.
Police and locals said the child Rahi Moni is the second child of farmer Abdur Rahim of Saghatia village of Kahalu municipality in Bogra. The child was studying in the first class of the local Kahalu Fazil Degree Madrasa in the Ibtedayi branch. Rahi Moni was more busy with sports than studying properly. On Tuesday around 8 am, he was playing sports instead of studying. Father Abdur Rahim got angry and hit him with a market bag. But unbeknownst to him, the knife in the bag entered the stomach of baby Rahi Moni. Relatives quickly rescued him and took him to Bogra Shajimek Hospital. There the doctor declared him dead. Rahim ran away from home immediately after the incident.
Rizia Khatun, the child’s mother, said that this was an unexpected incident. The accident happened while ruling.
Inspector (Investigation) of Kahalu Police Station Ashraful Alam said that Abdur Rahim, the child’s father, has been arrested. He repents for unintentionally killing Adar’s daughter. On Wednesday, he will be sent to Bogra Jail through the court.
