Another threat to drivers on the road at night is the LED lights installed on autovans and autorickshaws. As these bright white lights affect the eyes, drivers and pedestrians cannot see the vehicles coming in the opposite direction in front of them. Due to which minor accidents often happen.

Lately, the use of these lights is seen at a higher rate on various roads of the upazila. The victims have demanded that action be taken against them now to avoid major accidents.

Motorcyclist Sohan Hossain said, we regularly carry passengers on motorcycles. Motorized vans and auto-rickshaws on the road at night are fitted with bright LED lights that dazzle the eyes for a few seconds. Due to which many times the passengers are also scared. We also struggle to control motorcycles. Another passerby, Mahabur Rahman, said that the white light of these lights also harms our eyes. When walking on the side of the road, if the light is visible, nothing can be seen. Administration should take necessary steps in this regard. And most of the vehicles that have them are unlicensed. In addition, some motorcycles are also equipped with such lights, which have a much higher intensity of light. which can cause eye problems.

A person named Russell said, I regularly travel on Manoharpur Manirampur Jessore road for work. Most of the movement is done by own bike. At night, various vehicles are often seen with LED lights. Because of which the bike has to slow down or stand on the side of the road with the bike. Besides, I use glasses due to eye problems. Wearing bright white light directly over the glasses makes everything appear blurry in front. Which is a big problem for us due to which our life and property can be damaged in a big accident. So I think the appropriate authority will look into the matter.

On the other hand, autovan driver Jahangir Hossain said, the lights we use are LED, so the electricity consumption of our batteries is low. Also, they are much cheaper than other lights. However, we can also understand that its light causes problems for the eyes while walking on the road. Conscious people feel that there needs to be a fair solution, so they are seeking the intervention of higher officials.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer KM Abu Nowshad said, “No one has complained about this. However, we have to work on raising awareness.”
