Police are taking the accused to jail after the verdict in Comilla.
The court sentenced a painter to death for killing a physically challenged woman in Chandina Upazila of Comilla.
Additional District and Sessions Judge of Comilla Afroza Shiuli announced the verdict in the presence of the accused on Tuesday afternoon, said Additional Counsel for the State (APP). Niamat Ulyah Chowdhury.
Received the death sentence. Mukbul Hossain (35) is the son of late Manu Mia of Ranicha (Nayakandi) village of the upazila. He works as a painter.

Regarding the case, APP Niamat Ullah said that on August 11, 2015, at 7 pm, Gulshan Ara went to the shop to fetch tea and did not return. At one stage of the search, the relatives found his body lying next to the house.
The day after the incident, Gulshan Ara’s father filed a case at Chandina police station accusing unknown persons, he said.
According to the investigation report of the case, Mukbul Hossain had an extramarital relationship with Gulshan Ara. At one point she became pregnant. Later, when Gulshan talks about marriage, Mukbul rejects it.
In order to cover up the incident, Mukbul Gulshan took Ara to dinner, wrapped a veil around her neck, strangled her and ran away, said Niamat Ullah, the lawyer for the state.
After the testimony, the accused was sentenced to death and fined Tk 25,000, said APP.
Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, Niamat Ulyah said, “I hope the high court upholds this verdict and implements it quickly.”
