A young man named Babu (25) was beaten to death by calling him a bus battery thief in Siddhirganj. He is the son of late Ibrahim Bepari, a resident of Mijmiji Jora Khamba area.

The incident took place on Monday night in Painadi new Mohalla area of ​​Ward No. 1 of Siddhirganj.

Siddhirganj police station sub-inspector (SI) Alamgir Hossain said, ‘The body has been brought to the police station. Initially I learned that the boy was beaten up by unknown people for stealing. He died in the morning. I can tell the rest after the autopsy.’

Eyewitnesses and locals said that the bus was parked in a sand field in Painadi New Mohalla area. On Monday night, a number of people arrested Babu and beat him up by stealing the battery from the car of a bus owner called Mana and selling it. He was later handed over to his family.

The victim’s mother Phulmati said that her son was beaten by some people and taken to her house on Monday night. He died in the morning. The unidentified people claimed that his son Babu had stolen the battery of the bus and sold it for Tk 35,000. The express bus owner was also ordered to return the battery.

He also said that Babu used to work on tiles. He used to take sleeping tablets but never heard of any theft. I didn’t go to work after Eid.

In this regard, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique said that the family of the deceased has not yet arrived. If they come, there will be a case.
