The Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs of the 12th National Assembly has recommended the economic valuation of women’s domestic work.
This recommendation was made in the second meeting of the ‘Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs’ of the 12th National Parliament at Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Tuesday (April 23).
Committee President Sagufta Yasmin presided over the meeting. Member of the committee and Minister of State in charge of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Simin Hossain (Rimi), Md. Abdul Aziz, Shahida Tarek Dipti, Parul Akhtar, Moosa. Tahmina Begum, Mohammad Zillur Rahman, Rezia Islam and Sabera Begum were present.
The Committee recommends the Ministry to take necessary steps to determine the economic value of women’s domestic work. Besides, it is recommended to make the DPP more practical in recruitment of teachers to speed up karate training programs under the youth club setting up scheme at the union level and to increase the campaign with prevention of domestic violence, prevention of child marriage and anti-sexual harassment laws.
The committee recommended the ministry to issue a letter to the CEO of the channel as the negative report on Kishore-Kishori Club aired on 71 TV was found to be wrong through investigation.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the Director General of the Ministry of Women Affairs and the concerned officials of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat including the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs were present in the meeting.
