A swimmer died while crossing from Sri Lanka to India. His name is Gopal Rao. The 78-year-old swimmer’s home is in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is known that he died of a heart attack.
Rao was a member of a swimming group of 31 members. They organized a swim from Sri Lanka to India through the Pak Strait. On April 22, the swimming team left the Indian island of Rameswaram by boat. The team started swimming from Thalaimannar in Sri Lanka towards Dhanushkodi.

Gopal Rao was third in swimming. He felt sick at one point during the swim. At this time he was taken on a boat. Later the doctor on duty declared Rao dead.
