A woman named Babita Akhter (37) who was injured in the attack by robbers in Dhaka’s Ashulia died under treatment. A robber named Osman Gani has been arrested by the police on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

Enam Medical College Hospital in-charge Md Yusuf Ali confirmed the matter on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon. Earlier last night around 1 o’clock he died while undergoing treatment at Savar Enam Medical College Hospital.

Deceased Babita Akhter is the wife of Nadeem Mandal of Bypail area of ​​Ashulia.

Relatives of the deceased said that on the evening of April 15, he took his college student son Saju Mondal and three-year-old daughter Nusrat with him from his home in Bypail to Pallividyut area of ​​Ashulia. From there, on the way back home by rickshaw, when she reached Habib pump in Palashbari area of ​​Nabinagar-Chandra highway, robbers came on motorcycles and tried to take away the bag in Babita’s hand and the gold chain around her neck. At that time, Babita fell from the moving rickshaw on the highway due to the pull of the robbers. In this, she was severely injured in the head and Babita was rescued and admitted to a nearby clinic. When his condition deteriorated there, he was taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar for better treatment. There he was being treated in the neuro intensive care unit (ICU) after surgery. He died there while undergoing treatment.

Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Milan Fakir said that after the incident, the victim filed a robbery case with the house wife’s Dewar Md Quader Hriday at Ashulia Police Station. After that, a robber named Osman Gani was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. He also said that the operation to arrest the rest is continuing.
