Due to previous enmity in Pirojpur, opponents killed a youth named Sohag Sheikh (33) by hacking him with a sharp weapon.
The incident took place at Bhairampur village of Kadamtala Union of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila on Monday (April 22).
The deceased Sohag is the son of Siddique Sheikh of village Bhairampur of Kadamtala Union of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila.
Sipan Sheikh, the brother of the deceased, said that Sohag Sheikh was killed by some local Shamsu and Imam along with Sohag Sheikh near the mosque of Matubbar house with sharp weapons. Earlier, his brother had been threatened to be killed several times by the opponents.
He also said that Sohag and his family had a dispute with one party over the dominance of the area. A man named Shahidul was murdered after the last UP elections. He made the deceased Sohag Sheikh the prime accused in the case. Four months ago, Sohag was released from jail on bail in that case. He claimed that his brother Sohag Sheikh was killed in a planned manner because of that previous enmity.
Pirojpur Additional Superintendent of Police Mukit Hasan Khan said, initially, it is believed that this murder happened due to previous enmity. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the incident. Besides, the body has been recovered and sent for post-mortem and legal action is under process in this regard.
