Nasima Akhtar, mother of deceased worker Ankhi Akhtar, Rahela Akhtar, mother of deceased Fazle Rabbi, Tahera Akhtar, mother of deceased Shahida, injured worker Jasmine Akhtar, President of Bangladesh Garment Workers Solidarity Taslima Akhtar and General Secretary Babul Hossain, Savar Upazila Branch of Garment Workers Trade Union spoke at the meeting. Ruhul Amin said, ‘Today, I have to say with great regret, those who come to power and sit in the Masnad, they think they are their masters. And the workers of this country look down on the hardworking people. An example of this is the Rana Plaza tragedy. It was no accident; This is planned murder. However, the government did not pay attention to the injured persons and their families. The guilty have not yet been tried. We have to unite ourselves and claim our rights.’

Jasmine Akhter, an injured worker in the Rana Plaza collapse, said, ‘I worked at Rana Plaza for four years. I have no language to speak today. I am afraid to remember that day. I was trapped under the building for two days. I didn’t think I could get out alive. The pillars of the building fell on my spine. I have not received compensation even in 11 years. The guilty were not punished. Many others like me are crippled and lying at home.’
