In Siddhirganj of Narayanganj, a young man named Babu (25) died in a gang beating for stealing a bus battery. However, the family of the victim claimed that the slain youth was addicted to drugs but was not guilty of stealing.

The incident took place in the area adjacent to Haji Shamsuddin School in Ward No. 1 on Monday night (Nashik).

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Siddhirganj Police Station Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter. He said the body was brought to the police station. Initially I learned that the boy was beaten up by unknown people for stealing. I can tell the rest after the autopsy.

The deceased youth is the son of deceased Ibrahim Bepari, a resident of Mijmiji Jora Khamba area.

According to eyewitnesses and local people, the bus was parked in an empty sand field adjacent to Mizmiji Haji Shamsuddin School. On Monday night, a number of people arrested and beat up the dead youth by stealing the battery from the car of a bus owner named Mana and selling it. He was later handed over to his family.

The victim’s mother Phulmati was contacted to get the description of the incident. He told Dhaka Times that his son was beaten by some people and taken to his house on Monday night. The unidentified people claimed that his son Babu had stolen the bus battery and sold it for Tk 35,000. The express bus owner was also ordered to return the battery. The reporter asked him whether your son had ever been accused of being a thief before. In response, the victim’s mother Phulmati said, “My son used to take sleeping tablets but there was no incident of theft.” Ay (Babu) used to work on tiles. I didn’t go to work after Eid. In this regard, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique said that the victim’s family has not come yet. They will indeed be sued.
