Severe to very severe heat wave has been ongoing in Chuadanga for several days. For now, there is no chance of the temperature dropping. As a result of the fire, people are suffering from unbearable heat. The role of Dub is quite good in preventing dehydration in this summer. Therefore, canned water is very popular as a drink at this time.

However, the lower and middle class people are helpless due to the excessive cost of dubbing this summer. Currently, the demand for dub is also sky high. Dub traders are taking advantage of this rising market and unbearable heat. Due to their inactivity, a dub of 70 taka is being sold for 100 taka. And 80-90 taka dubbing is selling at 110-120 taka. In other words, this summer, the dub sellers’ Poabaro.

Dub is sold at every spot in the city, including Shahid Hasan Chatwar (Crossroads) Junction, Lower Bazaar, Rail Bazaar, Old Jail Khan Junction, Upsham Junction on Sadar Hospital Road, Collectorate School and College Junction on Kabri Road, Kedarganj New Bazaar Junction and Academy Junction in Chuadanga City. According to research, the retail price of each box is being sold at 100 to 120 rupees depending on the size. However, depending on the type, the price of this dub was supposed to be between 70 and 90 rupees in the current market.

Talking to the retail traders of the upazila towns of the district including Chuadanga, it is known that earlier the wholesale traders used to sell small and big cans to the retail traders at an average price of 40-55 taka. Now it has increased to an average price of 80-100 rupees. For example, traders have to buy a big box for Tk 100-110, a medium box for Tk 90-100 and a small box for Tk 80-85. As a result, retail traders are not able to sell less than 100 to 120 taka.

Mithun Mia, the driver of the battery-powered bird van, said, “I bought a dub, a small dub.” There are two bottles of water in that box and the price is 100 taka. What to do, nothing to do.

Alamgir Kabir Shiplu, who came to buy dubs, said that last week also he bought medium size dubs for 75 rupees. Now I see it has become 100 rupees. The big one is 120 taka. The price has increased so much that they don’t want to buy. Again, it’s a problem even if you don’t eat the hot dub.

A businessman named Al Maruf, who came to buy dub, said that the price of dub is increasing because of the syndicate. As the price of everything in the market is high, so is the price of dubbing. There is no way to buy and eat Dub.

Jahangir Alam Samrat, a resident of Sarishadanga village in Chuadanga Sadar, said that many traders have increased the price of dubbing due to increased heat. Eating dub has become mandatory this summer. Realizing this, businessmen are taking advantage of common people.

Taizel Ali, an itinerant retail dubb trader in Court Mor area of Chuadanga city, said that the wholesale price of dubb is now high. So it has to be sold at a higher price. Human needs are more than ever. But if the supply increases then the price will also decrease.

Harun Ali, retail dub seller of Shaheed Hasan Chatwar, said, brother, dubs are not available. Customers are bargaining because the price is high. Acquaintances are also angry as the price is high. We have to buy dub at 80-90 rupees from wholesalers. As a result, the sale has to be done at a higher price.

It is known that apart from locally collected dub, a large part of dub is imported from Khulna and Magura. So that the demand of the people of Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Kushtia and Meherpur district is met.

On speaking to some wholesale traders, on condition of anonymity, they said that those who are collecting dubb locally, are selling it at a higher price to wholesalers or traders. As a result, retailers have to buy at higher prices.

Shimul Hossain, a wholesale daub seller at the intersection of Chuadanga city, said that the demand is not being met due to the decline of daub trees in almost all areas. As a result, the price of dubbing is high. Those who collect locally and sell to us are also taking more. And we are forced to sell to retailers at higher prices. As a result, ordinary buyers have to buy at a slightly higher price.

Meanwhile, Sajal Ahmed, Assistant Director of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection, said about the sudden increase in the price of dubbing, “We have conducted several campaigns so far. It has been asked to hang the price list during the campaign. At the same time verbal instructions have been given to preserve the vouchers of the price at which the retailers are buying the dub from the wholesalers. Besides, legal action will be taken if evidence of overpricing is found. And the campaign will continue.
