A person named Alamgir Shikder (56) died of heat stroke in Gulistan of the capital. He is the son of Shikdar of Zamir Shekhdi area of Jatrabari.
He was found unconscious on the street of Gulistan at 10 am on Tuesday and was taken to Dhaka Medical Center where the doctor declared him dead at 11 am.
It is known that Alamgir went to Gulistan via Hanif flyover bridge by bus. From there he suddenly fell ill while walking on the road. Later he was rushed to the hospital.
Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Wari Police Station Shah Alam said that the two pedestrians and doctors who brought Alamgir to the hospital were also spoken to. All in all, he died of heat stroke due to excessive heat.
He also said that his name was known from the NID card and various phone numbers of the deceased in his pocket. His family was later contacted.
Inspector in charge of DMK Hospital Police Camp Bachchu Mia said that he was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state around 11:15. The doctors examined and found that he died on the way. Apart from him, two others who became unconscious in the heat were admitted to DMK Hospital today. They are undergoing treatment.
It should be noted that the Meteorological Department has issued a heat alert from Monday to Wednesday due to the ongoing heatwave across the country. Meteorologist Bajlur Rashid said that there will be more water vapor in the air during this time, so discomfort will increase in the heat.
