Trump’s lawyers denied the allegations at the hearing.

Trump withdrew from the election campaign
The trial could last up to two months, and Trump, the front-runner in the Republican presidential primary, will have to spend his day in court instead of on the campaign trail.
“I’m the leading candidate … and that’s what they’re trying to take me out of the race,” Trump said after Monday’s hearing. Checks are being given to lawyers.”
A guilty verdict would not prevent Trump from being re-elected as president, but he cannot pardon himself because this is a state case, not federal.
The former US president faces separate charges of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election won by Biden and hiding secret documents at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida, both of which he denies.
The New York hush money cases have so far gone according to plan, though they have been repeatedly delayed by challenges from his legal team.
