A husband has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for killing his wife due to a family dispute. Husband Idris Miah involved in the incident was arrested from Comilla and associate Rahmat Ali from Gazipur.
Tuesday (April 23) RAB-1 Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed this information.
He said that the dead body of a woman named Azida Begum was recovered from a rented house in Sreepur, Gazipur. Later, several raid teams of RAB arrested the main accused in the Clueless murder case and his accomplice from Comilla and Gazipur within 24 hours. He said that RAB-1 and RAB-11 conducted this operation jointly.
Narrating the incident. Mahfuzur Rahman said that on April 21, a dead body of Azida Begum was recovered from a rented house in Sreepur, Gazipur. The body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy. After that, Azida Begum’s younger brother Mustafa filed an anonymous murder case at Sripur police station. Later, the initial investigation revealed the involvement of her husband.
After extensive efforts, RAB-1 and RAB-11 were able to identify the location of the main accused using information technology on April 21 around 4 pm. RAB-1, CPSC, and RAB-11, CPC-2, conducted a joint operation in Comilla, the main accused. Idris arrests Mia. Later, according to the information given by him, the assistant Md. raided Rajendrapur in Gazipur. Rahmat Ali was also arrested.
The statement given by the accused
The RAB official said that the two accused who were arrested in the murder case gave a gruesome description of the murder. According to their commentary, Idris Mia and deceased Azida Begum got married eight years ago. Since then there was family and marital discord between them. They were constantly engaged in quarrels. Recently, Idris Mia felt a lot of anger when the relationship deteriorated. In view of this, he plans to kill his wife Azida. Accordingly, on April 20 between 11:30 and 12:30, Idris Mia and his associate Md. Rahmat Ali slaughtered Azida Begum with a knife in her rented house while she was sleeping. At that time, the accomplice Rahmat Ali confirmed the murder by pressing a pillow on his face. Later they locked the door of the house and quickly left the scene.
Apart from this, RAB has informed that the two arrested accused are in the process of being handed over to the Sreepur police station of Gazipur for taking legal action.
