A person fell ill while walking in Dhaka’s Gulistan during the ongoing heat wave and died.
The person’s name is Alamgir Sikder (56). He is a resident of Kajla area of Jatrabari.

Wari police station sub-inspector (SI) Shah Alam told The Daily Star that the man was walking under the Mayor Hanif flyover around 10:30 am. Suddenly he fell ill and lost consciousness. Pedestrians rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead around 11 am.
SI believes that he may have suffered from heat stroke.
The medical officer of the emergency department of Dhamek Hospital Dr. Marcelina Sarkar said passers-by brought a dead man to the hospital. Pedestrians said that the person fell on the road. Whether he died of heat stroke or other causes, it will be known after the post-mortem.
Earlier yesterday afternoon, a rickshaw driver fell ill and died while driving a rickshaw near Dhaka Nursing College.
