Due to past enmity in Pirojpur, opponents are killing a youth named Sohag Sheikh (33) with a sharp weapon.
The incident took place at Bhairampur village of Kadamtala Union of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila at around 10:30 PM on Monday (April 23), local Union Parishad (UP) member Mizan Howladar said.
The deceased Sohag is the son of Siddique Sheikh of village Bhairampur of Kadamtala Union of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila.

Sipan Sheikh, the brother of the deceased, said that his brother Sohag Sheikh was taken out in front of the house by calling at night. Later, they killed a local Shamsu and Imam along with a few Sohags who were sitting near the mosque of Matubbar house and cut his arms and legs from his body with sharp weapons and escaped. Even before this, his brother had been threatened to be killed several times by the opponents.
He also said that Sohag and his family had a dispute with one party over the dominance of the area. A person named Shahidul was murdered after the last UP elections. In that case, the deceased Sohag Sheikh was made the main accused. Sohag was released from jail on bail in that case. His brother Sohag Sheikh was systematically killed because of that previous enmity.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station. Asikuzzaman said that this killing happened due to previous enmity, initially it was known. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the incident. Besides, the body has been recovered and sent for post-mortem and legal action in this regard is under process.
