In Sadar Upazila of Pirojpur, opponents are killing a young man by hacking his hands and legs and dismembering him due to previous enmity.

A young man named Sohag Sheikh was hacked to death by cutting his arms and legs with sharp weapons.

The incident took place at Bhairampur village of Kadamtala union of the upazila at around 10:30 pm on Monday, said the OC of Pirojpur Sadar police station. Asikuzzaman.

The deceased is 33-year-old Sohag Sheikh, son of Siddique Sheikh of that village.

Local UP member Mizan Howladar said that a person named Shahidul was killed after the last UP election. Sohag was made the main accused in that case. Four months ago, Sohag was released from jail on bail in that case.

His brother Sipan Sheikh has alleged that Sohag Sheikh was killed in a planned manner due to past enmity.

He said that his brother Sohag Sheikh was taken out in front of the house by calling on Monday night. Later, near the mosque of Matubbar’s house, some Sohags including local Shamsu and Imam were hacked to death with sharp weapons and escaped.

“At this time, they cut off Sohag’s hands and feet.”

He said that the opponents had threatened to kill his brother several times before.

OC Asikuzzaman said that the body was recovered and sent for autopsy. It is initially known that this killing happened due to previous enmity. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the incident. And legal action is under process in this regard.
