Driver dies after falling from moving rickshaw, suspected to be heat stroke

MediVoice reports: A rickshaw driver named Abdul Awal (45) lost consciousness after falling from a moving rickshaw on the road behind Dhaka Medical Nursing College. Later, passers-by rescued him in an unconscious state and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. He is believed to have died of heat stroke.

The incident took place on Monday (April 22) afternoon in Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) hospital area of ​​the capital.

Eyewitnesses said that the rickshaw driver was shaking and unconscious after driving the rickshaw on the road behind the nursing college. He was rescued and taken to DMK Hospital. He was declared dead there. It is believed that he died of heat stroke due to extreme heat.

Quoting the family, the police said that the deceased Awal is the son of Azam Ali of Lakhai Singhagram in Habiganj. He lives in Shibumarket area of ​​Narayanganj and used to drive a rickshaw from my garage in Shanirakhra.

SI Sumon Basak of Dhaka’s Shahbag police station confirmed the death of the rickshaw puller citing doctors. He told the media that the doctors initially thought that Abdul Awal had died of ‘heat stroke’.
