Al Islam (28), a young German expatriate, lost his life when he fell into the Meghna river while boarding a launch in Bhairab of Kishoreganj.

Tuesday (April 23) at 11:30 in charge of Bhairav ​​Naval Police Outpost (OC). Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter. The accident took place at Bhairab Bazar launch terminal around 8:30 pm on Monday.

The deceased is the son of Al Islam Bhairab Chamber of Commerce and Industry director Haji Alauddin, a resident of Chandiber area of ​​the city.

OC Moniruzzaman said that as soon as the news of the accident was received, a diving team of the naval police unit and fire service started rescue work. After about an hour of operation, Al Islam was rescued and taken to Upazila Health Complex. Then the doctor on duty there declared him dead.

Al Islam’s relatives said he was studying for a higher degree in economics at a university in Germany. He came to the country to celebrate Eid with his family on April 8. On Monday night, he went to hang out with friends on a launch anchored at the launch ghat in Bhairab Bazar. At this time, while climbing the launch, he slipped from the stairs and fell into the water.

Later, when his friends informed the local fire service office, a diving team of neighboring Ashuganj fire service went there and rescued him and took him to Upazila Health Complex Hospital. After being taken there, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Al Islam was involved in various social and cultural organizations in Bhairab. He was active in Kakali Khelaghar Asar, Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha, Himu Paribahan, University Students Sangsad, Bhairab Pitha Utsav Udyapan Parishad and various blood donation organizations. The news of his death has cast a shadow of mourning in the area including family, relatives and friends.
