The demands of the students are that the absconding driver and his accomplice should be quickly arrested and punished, setting up a modern medical center in the campus with all facilities, providing ambulance facilities with modern equipment, constructing a four-lane highway from the head of the road to Kaptai, documents for every bus and CNG-powered auto-rickshaw and Regular verification of driver’s licenses, holding student welfare councils accountable and forming student delegations, providing adequate compensation to the families of those killed and injured.
The students announced that all academic activities of Chuet will be suspended until the written commitment of not accepting these demands.
Along with the movement, the students will participate in the Ghaibana Janaza of the students killed in the university grounds at 12 noon today and in the mourning and prayer ceremony at 3 pm.
Earlier on Monday, three students of Chuet met with an accident while riding a motorcycle in Jianagar of Chittagong’s Rangunia police station. Shanto Saha, a third-year student of Civil Engineering Department of Chuet, died on the spot when a high-speed Shah Amanat Paribahan bus hit the student’s motorcycle.
