RAB has arrested the main absconding accused husband Shri Rampen Dash (34) from Keraniganj, Dhaka in the case of the murder of his wife Mrs. Putul Rani. This information was informed in a press release signed by Mahmud Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Director (Media) of Gaibandha RAB-13, CPC-3 on Monday (April 22) afternoon.
The arrested Rompen Das is the son of Khonka Das of Bonarpara (Rail Colony, Gate No. 1) village of Saghata Upazila.
According to the circular, based on reliable information, in a joint operation of Gaibandha and Keraniganj RAB yesterday (April 21) at 7:30 in the evening, the main fugitive accused in the murder case of Mrs. Putul Rani and her husband Mr. Rompen Dash were arrested from Keraniganj. During interrogation, he admitted to be the main absconding accused in the murder case and the husband of the victim.
It is also stated in the notification that the accused Mr. Rampen Das was married to the victim Mrs. Putul Rani (32), daughter of deceased Vishwanath of Dhutur Bari village of Gobindganj Ujella, Gaibandha approximately 15-16 years ago. Due to scarcity, they used to earn a living by working in garments in Dhaka. They have a daughter. They came to the village house on April 9 of this month. On the night of April 11, a quarrel started between the two regarding family matters. At one stage Swami Rompen Das got angry and started beating him with abuse.
When the victim’s wife Smt Putul Rani protested, the accused stabbed the victim in the stomach with a sharp dagger. He was seriously injured and was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. The victim died while undergoing treatment there.
In this incident, the victim’s brother Shri Robin Das filed a murder case in Saghata Police Station as the plaintiff on April 15. The accused was handed over to Saghata police station on Monday (April 22) for legal action.
