RAB-1 and RAB-11 have arrested the main accused and his accomplice in the case of killing a 38-year-old woman named Azida Begum in Sreepur, Gazipur. They were arrested on Monday night.
RAB said that Azida was killed in the plan of her husband due to a family dispute.
RAB-1 Assistant Director (Ops Officer) and Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter. He said that they were arrested from Comilla and Gazipur districts within 24 hours of the murder.
Last Sunday afternoon, the police recovered Azida Begum’s throat slit from the west balcony room of Babul’s rented house in Nagarhaola village of Sreepur police station. Later it was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
In this incident, the younger brother of the victim, Mustafa, filed a murder case in Sripur police station.
The reason behind the murder
After admitting their involvement in the murder, the arrested persons told RAB that Idris Mia and the victim Azida Begum got married eight years ago. Since marriage, there was family and marital discord between them. This created great anger in the mind of Idris Mia. Out of anger, he plans to kill Azida. As planned, Idris and his accomplice killed Azida by slitting her throat with a knife on April 20 at 12:30 pm. After that, he confirmed the murder with a pillow on his face and ran away by locking the door.
RAB will hand over the arrested two to Sreepur Thana Police for taking legal action against them.
