Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit. He will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the second day of his visit, Tuesday (April 23).
After the meeting of the two heads of state of Bangladesh and Qatar, the agreement and memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between the two countries.
Earlier, the Emir of Qatar arrived in Dhaka on a special flight on Monday (April 22) around 5 pm. He was welcomed at the airport by President Md. Sahabuddin
It is reported that six agreements and five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between Qatar and Bangladesh during the Amir’s visit. The agreements are – avoidance of duplication, cooperation in legal matters, maritime transport, promotion and protection of investments, transfer of convicted persons and establishment of joint business councils.
The MoUs include – MoUs on Manpower, Port Management, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Youth and Sports Cooperation and Diplomatic Training Cooperation.
This afternoon, the Emir of Qatar will meet the President at Bangabhaban. Then Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani will leave Dhaka by special flight in the evening.
A road in Dhaka will be named after the Emir of Qatar. In this regard, in a press conference on April 21, the foreign minister said that the park to be built in the sand field of Mirpur’s Kalshi area and the road from Mirpur ECB square to Kalshi Airport will be named after the Emir of Qatar.
Incidentally, this is the first time since 2005 that an Emir of Qatar visited Dhaka.
