Pirojpur: An allegation has been made against the opponent that Sohag Sheikh (33) hacked a youth to death due to enmity in Pirojpur. Sohag is the prime accused in the murder case of a young man named Shahidul.
The incident took place at Bhairampur village of Kadamtala union of Sadar upazila of the district on Monday (April 22) around 11:30 pm. The deceased Sohag is the son of Siddique Sheikh of that village.
According to local sources, Sohag and his family had been in dispute for a long time with one party over the dominance of the area. A person named Shahidul was murdered after the last UP elections. Sohag Sheikh was made the main accused in that case. Locals believe that this killing may happen due to that enmity.
Samsur Rahman, the nephew of the deceased, said that at night near the mosque near Sohag’s house, some local people including Shamsu and Imam ambushed Sohag and started beating him. When he screamed, the attackers left Sohag and left. Earlier they also threatened to kill Sohag several times.
Local UP member Mizan Howladar said that Sohag was found dead after being chopped up and left behind. Sohag’s nephew Samsur Rahman was nearby during the incident. He saw who did it. Some people had enmity with the Sohags for dominance in the area. A person named Shahidul was murdered after the last UP elections. They made Sohag the number one accused in that case.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station. Asikuzzaman said, it is initially thought that this killing may happen due to enmity. We are working to find the root cause of the murder. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
