A student who went to Germany on scholarship died tragically after falling into the water while boarding a launch with his friends at Bhairab in Kishoreganj. The name of the deceased student is Al Islam (30).
Islam Bhairab is the son of Chamber of Commerce and Industry director Haji Alauddin. His house is in the village of Chandib in Pur city. A year and a half ago, he went to Germany to study on a scholarship. Then Islam came home on vacation before Eid.
He fell into the water at Bhairab Bazar launch terminal around 8:30 pm on Monday. Station Officer of Bhairab Bazar Fire Service Azizul Haque Rajan confirmed this information.
It is reported that after receiving the information, Bhairav Naval Police Unit and Fire Service personnel took Islam to Upazila Health Complex in a comatose condition after 40 minutes of rescue operation. At that time the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Relatives said that Islam went to Germany to study with a scholarship a year and a half ago. He came home from Germany on holiday on April 8 to celebrate Eid with his family. Going to hang out with friends on the river tonight and get on the launch. At that time, he slipped and fell into the river. After informing the naval police, after trying for half an hour, he was rescued and brought to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
Rafiqul Islam, deputy inspector of Bhairab Naval Police Unit, said that after receiving the information at 8:40 PM, local divers went to the spot and rescued the young man after 40 minutes and brought him to the hospital.
