Two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) were killed in a bus-motorcycle collision at Rangunia on Chittagong-Kaptai road.
The accident happened on Monday (April 22) around 5 pm in the area adjacent to the thermal power plant of Pomra Union on the Chittagong-Kaptai road.

The two students killed are Shanta Saha (23) and Md. Taufiq Hossain (22). Initially Shanto’s home is Narsingdi and Taufiq’s home is said to be in Noakhali district. After the incident, the situation in Chuet campus is calm.
Chuet Deputy Director (Public Relations) Fazlur Rahman confirmed the death in the accident and said that the deceased Shanto Saha was a 20th batch student of Chuet Civil Engineering Department. He is the son of Kajal Saha of Narsingdi. Taufiq Hossain is a student of ’21 batch of the same department. He is the son of Mohammad Delwar of New College Road, Sudharam, Noakhali.
Eyewitnesses said that the two students of Chuet were going to Chuet on a motorcycle from Rangunia. A bus on the Kaptai road was on its way from Bahaddarhat in the city to Rangunia when a head-on collision took place. The two students on the motorcycle were seriously injured. They were rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Later they died there.
SI Abu Syed of Rangunia Police Station said that two Chuet students named Shanto and Taufiq met with an accident on their way from Rangunia to Chuet. The locals rescued them and sent them to the hospital. Later I got news that these two died while undergoing treatment. He also said that the bus was seized and brought to the police station.
