Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) has announced to stop all services at private hospital-diagnostic centers in Chittagong on Tuesday (April 23) due to two-point demand. Monday (April 22) general secretary of BMA Chittagong branch Dr. Mohammad Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury confirmed the matter. Meanwhile, the patients and their relatives are worried about the news of doctors’ strike.

Earlier, on April 20, doctors observed a two-hour strike in all government and private hospitals.

Dr. Mohammad Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury said, the arrest of the attackers on Dr. Raktim Dasher (29) working in the emergency department of Patia General Hospital and Dr. working at Chittagong Medical Center Hospital. All private hospitals-diagnostic centers of Chittagong will be closed from 6 am tomorrow Tuesday (April 23) to Wednesday (April 24) 6 am to demand the cancellation of the bail of those who attacked Riaz Uddin Shiblu.

President of Swachip Chittagong Dr. Sheikh Shafiul Azam said, we do not want to hold patients hostage. But there is nothing we can do. Such a situation would not have arisen if the administration accepted our demands. We want a strong law to protect doctors.

It is to be noted that on the night of April 11, miscreants attacked Dr. Raktim Das, who was on duty in the emergency department of Patia General Hospital, due to delay in treating the patient. Two days later, on the morning of April 14, Riaz Uddin Shiblu, a doctor at Chittagong Medical Center Hospital, was attacked by his relatives.
