80 earthquakes in one night in Taiwan

--

More than 80 earthquakes were felt in Taiwan in just one night. Among them, the strongest earthquake had a magnitude of 6.3. These earthquakes hit the east coast of Taiwan from Monday night to Tuesday morning. Even the country’s capital, Taipei, these earthquakes were felt. British news agency Reuters reported this information in a report on Tuesday (April 23).

This year’s earthquakes were felt more in the greater rural areas of Hualien. The region was badly damaged by the devastating earthquake on April 3.

According to Reuters reports, the earthquake was felt intermittently throughout the night on Monday. It shook large areas of northern, eastern and western Taiwan, including the capital Taipei.

Hualien’s fire service reported that a hotel was tilted to one side in this earthquake. This hotel was badly damaged in the April 3 earthquake. Since then it has remained closed.

However, no loss of life or damage was reported in Taiwan due to this earthquake.

Located at the intersection of two tectonic plates, Taiwan is an earthquake-prone country. Earthquakes hit here almost regularly.

Earlier, on April 3, a strong earthquake of 7.2 magnitude was felt on the east coast of Taiwan. 14 people were killed in that earthquake. Apart from this, about 1000 aftershocks occurred after this powerful earthquake.

Before that, in 1999, an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 had hit there. About 2 thousand 400 people died in that earthquake. In addition, 50,000 buildings were destroyed or damaged in the earthquake.
