The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘heat alert’ for three more days in view of the heat wave across the country. According to the press release, very intense heat waves will pass over Pabna and Chuadanga districts in the next 24 hours. Apart from this, intense heat wave is flowing over Rajshahi, Tangail, Jessore and Kushtia districts. A mild to moderate heat wave is moving over Srimangal upazila and Chandpur district, remaining parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barisal divisions. This heat wave may continue.

Meanwhile, two deaths due to heatstroke and diarrhea have been reported in different parts of the country. The number of patients admitted to hospital due to heat-related diseases is also increasing. The doctors of the hospital are struggling to serve the patients due to excess pressure and shortage of beds.

Patuakhali: Diarrhea has become prominent in the district during summer. Till Monday morning, 116 people have been admitted to various hospitals due to diarrhea in the district in the previous 24 hours. Apart from this, a person named Sattar Faraji died due to diarrhea in Kalapara of the district. He died on the way to Kalapara Hospital last Sunday evening. He was a resident of Char Baliatli village of Kalapara’s Baliatli union.

Relatives of Sattar Farazi said that he was suffering from diarrhea for several days. Apart from this, he also had kidney problems. After taking medicine from the local pharmacy, when the condition worsened, he was treated at a clinic in Kalapara on Monday morning. He later died on the way to the hospital. Kalapara health center doctor Tanjila Hassi confirmed this fact.

Meanwhile, there is no room for patients suffering from heat-related diseases in the district hospitals. The hospital authorities are in a difficult position to handle the additional patients beyond the capacity. Despite the availability of sufficient saline, medicine, two to three children are kept in the same bed due to shortage of beds. Apart from this, patients have to be given space on the floor and balcony. Complications are created in the toilet.

Pabna: A farmer named Alauddin Ali Alal (43) died of heatstroke while working in the field at Chatmohar in Pabna. He died after being taken to Pabna General Hospital last Sunday afternoon. He is Md. of Neutigacha area of ​​Moolgram Union of Upazila. Son of Yusuf Ali.

Earlier, a person named Sukumar Das (60), a resident of Shalgaria Zakir Mor, died of heatstroke in Pabna on Saturday afternoon. With this, the number of deaths due to ‘heatstroke’ in the district stood at two.

According to Alal’s family and local sources, Alauddin suffered from heatstroke while working in the corn field at Chatmohar on Sunday morning. He was rescued and first admitted to Atgharia Upazila Health Complex. However, when he was taken to Pabna General Hospital for better treatment in the afternoon, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Ayesha Siddika, a doctor at Pabna General Hospital, said that people are suffering from heat stroke every day in extreme heat. Many patients are coming to the hospital. Our initial impression is that Alauddin of Chatmohar was suffering from heat stroke.

Boalkhali (Chittagong): 215 patients have been admitted to the Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex of Chittagong in the last one week. Apart from this, an average of 20-22 patients with diarrhea are taking primary care in the outpatient department every day. In addition to diarrhoea, people are suffering from abdominal pain, cold, fever-cough, pneumonia, shortness of breath, dehydration and heat stroke.

On Monday afternoon, it was learned that 87 people including children were admitted with diarrhea in a week from April 15 to Sunday. Apart from this, a total of 215 people have been admitted including 42 people with fever and 28 people with stomach pain.

Boalkhali Upazila Health and Family Planning Prateek Sen said, ‘Diarrhea has occurred due to climate change, extreme heat and food poisoning. In one week 87 patients with diarrhea only were admitted. Apart from this, many patients with diarrhea in the outpatient department have left with first aid.
