Mr. Rupen Dash (34), the main fugitive accused in the sensational murder case of Mrs. Putul Rani in Gaibandha, was arrested from Keraniganj, Dhaka.
The arrested Rupen Das is the son of Khoka Das of village No. 1 Gate Rail Colony of Bonar Para of Saghata Upazila.
This information was informed in a press release signed by Mahmud Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Director (Media) of Gaibandha RAB-13, CPC-3 on Monday, April 22.
According to the circular, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been playing a leading role in bringing all types of criminals under the law with the aim of maintaining the overall law and order situation of the country since its inception.
RAB has been conducting extensive operations against armed terrorists, organized criminals, drug dealers, robbers, rescue of kidnapped victims, dacoits and banned militant organizations. In continuation of this, in the joint operation of RAB-13, CPC-3 Gaibandha and RAB-10, Sadar Company, Keraniganj, last Sunday at 7:30 pm, the main absconding accused of Smt. Putul Rani murder case, Mr. Rampen Das, was arrested from Keraniganj. The arrested accused was brought to Saghata police station for further legal action. After his arrest, he admitted to being the main fugitive accused in the said murder case during interrogation.
It is mentioned in the notice that the arrested accused Mr. Rupen Das was married approximately 15/16 years ago to the victim Mrs. Putul Rani (32) of Swargiya Vishwanath daughter of Swargiya Vishwanath village of Rajahar Union of Rajahar Union of Gobindganj Upazila of Gaibandha.
They have a daughter in their family. Due to their poverty, both earn a living by working in Dhaka Garments. On April 9, the victim and the accused came to their village home. Last April 11, at around 4 am, there was an argument over a family matter. At one point, the accused Rupen Das (34) got angry and abused him.
When the victim protested, the accused stabbed the victim in the middle of the stomach with a sharp dagger in his hand and caused a serious bloody cut. Later, the victim was seriously injured and admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. The victim died here while undergoing treatment.
In this incident, the victim’s brother Shri-Robin Das (35) filed a case at Saghata police station on April 15 as the plaintiff. whose case is no.7.
