A student named Al Islam (30) died after falling into the water while boarding the launch in Bhairab of Kishoreganj. The accident took place at Bhairab Bazar launch terminal around 8:30 pm on Monday.
He is the son of Haji Alauddin, director of Bhairav Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His house is in Chandib area of the city. About a year and a half ago, I went to Germany to study with a scholarship. He came home on vacation a few days before Eid.
After receiving information about the accident, Bhairav Naval Police Unit and Fire Service personnel tried for 40 minutes to rescue Al Islam in a coma and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. There the doctor declared him dead.
Relatives said that Al Islam went to Germany to study with a scholarship a year and a half ago. On April 8, he came home from Germany on holiday to celebrate Eid with his family. On Monday night, I was going to hang out with my friends on the river bank and boarded the launch. At that time he slipped and fell into the river.
Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Inspector of Bhairab Naval Police Unit, said that after receiving the information at 8:40 PM, he went to the spot and after 40 minutes, he was rescued by a local diver and the doctor declared him dead.
