Two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUET) were killed when they were hit by a bus. Another student was injured in the incident. All three students were motorcycle riders. Angry students have blocked Chittagong-Kaptai road in this incident.
The accident happened on Monday (April 22) at 4 pm in the area adjacent to Selina Quader Chowdhury College on Chattogram Kaptai Road of Rangunia Upazila.
The deceased in the accident are Shanto Saha, a 20th batch student of Chuet Civil Engineering Department and Taufiq Hossain, a 21st batch student of the same department. Shanta Saha is the son of Kajal Saha of Narsingdi Sadar. And Taufiq Hossain is the son of Mohammad Delwar Hossain of Sudharam Upazila of Noakhali District.
Zakaria Himu was injured in this incident. He is a 21st batch student of civil engineering department. He is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare private hospital in Chittagong. His leg is broken.
Meanwhile, when the news of the death in the accident spread to the Chute campus, there was great excitement among the students. The students blocked the Chittagong-Kaptai road in front of the main gate of Chuet Gate with barricades. They are staying on the road till the report is written. As a result, traffic on this road is closed.
It is learned that three students were returning to Chuet campus on a motorcycle from Rangunia. There was a collision with a bus in the area adjacent to Selina Quader Chowdhury College on Kaptai Road. They were seriously injured. Later, when they were taken to Evercare Hospital, doctors declared Shanto and Taufiq dead.

Chuet assistant registrar Mohammad Rashedul Islam told Dhaka Post that in the afternoon three students of Chuet riding motorcycles met with an accident with a bus. Local people rushed three people who were seriously injured in the accident to Evercare Hospital. Doctors declared the injured Shanto Saha and Taufiq Hossain dead there. Injured Zakaria Himu is currently undergoing treatment.
Rangunia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Chandan Kumar Chakraborty told Dhaka Post that two students of Chuet were killed in an accident in the area adjacent to Selina Quader Chowdhury College on Kaptai Road, Pomra Union, Kaptai Road. Another student was injured. Three students were riding motorcycles. They were on their way to Chuet Campus from Rangunia.
He said that a bus with passengers from Chittagong city was going to Chandraghona in Rangunia. Three riders of the motorcycle were injured when the bus hit them on the way. Two students later died. Accidental bus and motorcycle seized. But the bus driver and helper escaped.
