Dhaka: A rickshaw driver named Abdul Awal (45) died on the road behind Dhaka Medical Nursing College in the capital. He is believed to have died of heatstroke.

The rickshaw driver was rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday (April 22nd) around 4:30 p.m. The doctor pronounced him dead.

Deputy Inspector (SI) of Shahbag police station Suman Basak said that the rickshaw driver was rescued unconscious from the road behind Dhaka Nursing College. After that, when brought to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.

The SI further said that after talking to the eyewitnesses, the man was driving a rickshaw and fell unconscious on the road behind the nursing college. He was later rushed to the hospital where he died. He is believed to have died of heatstroke.

Dr. Dhaka Medical College Hospital Emergency Department Medical Officer. Kishore Kumar said, a rickshaw driver was found dead. But whether his death was due to heatstroke or not will be known after the post-mortem.

Rickshaw owner Mahibul Alam said, ‘Awal’s house is in Sinhagram of Lakhai police station in Habiganj district. Father’s name is Azam Ali. He lived in Narayanganj Fatulla Shibu Market area. And used to drive a rickshaw from my garage in Shanirakhra.’
