Satkhira, a southern sub-district district, is burning in intense heat. There is no comfort anywhere in summer. In the intense heat, people’s lives are in a state of chaos. The District Meteorological Office recorded the maximum temperature of 39.3 degree Celsius at 3 pm today. Due to salinity, the intensity of heat is felt more among the common people of this district. In this unbearable heat, the hard working people are more miserable. They are unable to go out for work this summer. Unbearable suffering has increased among these working people. The intensity of the heat is increasing as the days go by. In this intense heat, the streets of the city are empty before noon. People are sheltering in the shade of cool trees to escape from the heat. Ordinary people have been crushed by the intensity of heat. To quench their thirst in summer, people are flocking to dab, sharbat and sugarcane juice shops. Farmers are also in trouble this summer. Their crops including mangoes are being damaged. Mangoes are falling from the trees in extreme heat. Fishermen are similarly affected. Fish in different fisheries are dying in summer.
Zulfikar Ali Ripon, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Meteorological Office, said that the temperature of Satkhira was recorded at 3 pm today at 39.3 degrees Celsius. And air humidity is 22 percent. On the other hand, the highest temperature recorded in the last 5 years was last Saturday (April 20) at 40.3 degrees Celsius.
