In the murder case of Chhatra Dal activist Parvez in Kalirbazar of Adarsh Sadar Upazila of Comilla, President and former chairman of Kalirbazar Union Awami League of Comilla Sadar. Comilla court sentenced 14 people including Sekander Ali to life imprisonment.
Comilla Additional Sessions Judge 2nd Court Judge Nasreen Jahan gave the verdict on Monday (April 22) afternoon.
The deceased Md. Parvez is the son of Abdul Momin from Kamalapur area of Kalirbazar Union of Comilla Sadar Upazila. He was involved in Chhatra Dal politics.
The other convicts in the case are – Md. Kalir Bazar area. Shahin, Md. Saddam Hossain, Md. Saiful Islam, Mofiz Bhandari, Md. Kamal Hossain, Abdul Quader, Md. Ibrahim Khalil, Md. Anwar, Md. Mehdi Hasan Rubel, Zainal Abedin, Md. Kauchar, Md. Riyaz and Md. Billal Hossain.
Plaintiff’s lawyer. Shariful Islam confirmed the matter and said that on the evening of June 10, 2020, Md. Parvez was beaten to death by his opponents. In the case of the deceased, a case was filed at the police station that he was the victim of murder due to robbery at that time. Later, the CID police investigated the case and filed a charge sheet in the name of 14 people.
The chargesheet in the case mentions that on the evening of June 10, Parvez came out of his house and came in front of Syedpur High School. At that time, the accused took him in a Marti car and took him to a wood garden and beat him to death with pre-planned indigenous weapons.
After taking the testimony of 31 witnesses in the case, the allegations were proved. The court awarded life imprisonment and fine to each of the 14 accused. In default, he was sentenced to another five months of rigorous imprisonment.
Awami League leader and former chairman Md. 11 people including Sekander Ali were present. Accused is absconding. Kauchar, Md. Riaz and Billal.
