Debiganj Thana police have arrested the main accused in the murder case after a year of absconding in connection with the murder of Salim in Panchagarh. A team of Debiganj police station arrested Faridul Islam, the main accused in the case, from Madaripur district last Saturday.
Before this, there was a dispute between Salim and Faridul over the homestead land last year. In this situation, on the day of the incident (March 25) in the presence of the local UP member Abdul Majeed, the surveyor was conducting a survey of the residential boundary. At one stage of the survey, accused Faridul Islam got excited and hit Selim on the head with a thick stick of eucalyptus tree.
Salim collapsed on the spot. Later Salim died while undergoing treatment. The day after this incident (March 26), Selim’s wife Bebi Akhtar filed a murder case with Debiganj police station mentioning the names of six people. After the case, a person named Jasina Begum was arrested by the police. However, Faridul Islam went into hiding after the case. After a long time, Debiganj Thana police managed to arrest Faridul from Madaripur last Saturday.
Sarkar Iftekharul Mokaddem, OC of Debiganj police station said, “We have managed to arrest Faridul, the main accused in the Salim murder case, from Madaripur after a long effort. The accused has been sent to jail by the court.
