A farmer died in intense sun and heat while working to harvest corn in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi. The farmer’s name is Montu Hossain (45). He is the son of Moslem Ali of Jamalpur village of Goalkandi union of the upazila. This incident happened on Monday (April 22) afternoon. The temperature in Bagmara was 40 degrees Celsius at the time of the incident.

Family members said that Muntu Hossain went out to work in the corn field near the house on Monday morning. At around 12:30 in the afternoon, the wife brings a bucket of water for the husband, who is working to harvest corn. She saw her husband lying unconscious in the field and started screaming. On hearing his screams, the surrounding people rushed to help them and quickly took him to a private hospital in nearby Bhavaniganj in an autovan. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.

Bagmara upazila Bhabaniganj clinic director Dr. Abdul Bari said that the farmer was brought dead. Talking to the relatives and hearing the signs, it seems that he died of heat stroke.

Sajeda Begum, the wife of the deceased, said that her husband died due to intense heat. There was no previous disease.

Local UP member Israel Hossain said farmer Montu died due to intense heat while working in the field.
