Popular small screen actor Waliul Haque Rumi passed away due to colon cancer. He died in the early hours of Monday (April 22) while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
The news of the actor’s death has cast a shadow of grief in the showbiz arena. Co-actor Mir Sabbir came to Facebook live remembering Rumi and broke down in tears. Where this actor said, the two were supposed to work together in the last drama as well.
Mir Sabbir said, ‘I have many memories with Rumi Bhai. And now I have to see Rumi Bhai for the last time and go to the shoot. This is the reality. Rumi Bhai has left today, so we will all leave.’
Rumi and Sabbir acted together in several plays. The two have a cordial relationship even behind the scenes. Even the two actors were supposed to act together in a drama recently.
Referring to the matter, Mir Sabbir said, ‘Rumi Bhai was also supposed to act in the play I am going to shoot now. But he is going to Barguna, to be buried in his mother’s grave. Even my own house is Barguna, but I could not go to his funeral. I would request those who are in Barguna to attend Rumi Bhai’s funeral.’
Mir Sabbir and his wife Farzana Chumki met Waliul Haque Rumi on the day of Eid. Remembering that, Sabbir said, ‘I went to meet him at the hospital on Eid….’ After that, the actor couldn’t hold back his tears. He cried on Facebook Live.
Meanwhile, Waliul Haque Rumi’s first funeral was held at Shahid Bagh Jame Masjid in Khilgaon on Monday morning. After that the body is being taken to Barguna. After another funeral there, the actor will be laid to rest in his mother’s grave.
Rumi acted mostly in the regional language of Barisal. He started his acting journey in 1988 with the drama ‘Ekhon Kritdas’. Apart from television, he also acted in films. In 2009, the actor made his debut on the big screen by acting in the film ‘Daria Parder Daulati’.
