Lalmonirhat: District BNP Joint General Secretary and former Sadar Upazila Chairman AKM Mominul Haque and Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Jahangir Khan have been denied bail and ordered to be sent to jail in the murder case of Sramik League leader Jahangir in Lalmonirhat.

Earlier in the afternoon in Lalmonirhat extra session judge Mizanur Rahman’s court, 9 BNP accused in the murder case of Sramik League leader Jahangir Alam surrendered to the court and applied for bail, but the court did not grant bail to two people.

Lalmonirhat Court Public Counsel Advocate Akmal Hossain Ahmed confirmed the truth of the incident.

According to court sources, Jahangir Alam, the leader of Sadar Upazila Load-Unload Sramik Union, was seriously injured in a clash with BNP during the hartal on October 29 last year. Later he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. In this incident, on November 1, a murder case was filed at the Sadar police station, citing the names of 81 people, accusing the former deputy minister Asadul Habib Dulu, the organizing secretary of the central BNP.

BNP leader AKM Mominul Haque and Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Jahangir Alam were on interim bail from the High Court in this murder case. BNP leaders appeared before the Lalmonirhat District and Sessions Judge’s Court on Monday after the expiry of the bail period and applied for bail. Later, the judge of the court, the district session judge of the court. Mizanur Rahman denied them bail and ordered them to be sent to court.
