Heat wave is sweeping across the country. And in this heatwave, two people died of heat stroke in Dinajpur’s Phulbari.

The deceased are ex-municipal councilor Motahar Ali (58), son of the late Mosharof Hossain of Chaksabajpur village in the municipal area, and Billal Hossain (52), a truck driver of Rajarhat village in Jessore’s Kotyali police station area.
Sanjid Ahmed Sweet, the son of deceased Motahar Ali, said, “Suddenly, my father got fever on Saturday.” In the afternoon while taking the initial treatment at home, the father became very ill. When he was taken to the health complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Truck owner Sohrab Hossain said that truck driver Billal Hossain went to Barapukuria area to collect stone dust rent from Jessore. Locals took him to the health complex when he fell ill on Saturday night, April 20. At that time the doctor on duty declared him dead. I heard that driver Bilal died of stroke.
Health and Family Planning Officer of Upazila Health Complex Dr. Moshiur Rahman said, ‘When the locals took the truck driver Billal Hossain to the health complex, his pulse could not be found. He died before being brought here. He is believed to have died of heatstroke due to overheating. Former municipal councilor Motahar Ali also died due to the same reason.
Tofazzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dinajpur Meteorological Office, said that the temperature was set between 33 and 36 degrees in Dinajpur district for the past few days. However, the highest temperature recorded in Dinajpur at 3 pm on Sunday, April 21 was 37 degrees Celsius. The water vapor humidity in the air was 44 percent. However, due to the high amount of water vapor in the air, the heat is felt more. There is no chance of rain in the next few days.
