The police recovered the strangled body of a housewife named Iti Begum (40) from the tenant’s house in Narail.
The body was recovered from under the bed of a tenant’s house in Gobra Dakshinpara area of Sadar Upazila around 10:30 pm on Sunday (April 21).

According to local sources, Iti Begum’s husband Hafez Shafiqul used to live there due to his employment in a madrasa in Lohagra upazila of Islam district. Sometimes he came home on vacation. As a result, childless Iti Begum used to stay alone at home most of the time. About a year ago Hafeez Shafiqul Islam rented a house to a day laborer named Monirul Molya who came from Fakirhat in Bagerhat with his family in search of work. A couple of months ago, the tenant Monirul sent his family home to the village.
On April 18, the victim’s husband, Hafez Shafiqul Islam, went to work from his home after a holiday. Then on April 19, the neighbors found the lock hanging in the house of Iti Begum and her tenant Monirul. When the neighbors told the matter to Iti’s husband Shafiqul, he thought that his wife might have gone to a relative’s house in the village. Her husband was not too worried about it as Heti had gone on trips like this many times before. But on the evening of April 21, when a foul smell came from the house of Iti’s tenant, Monirul, the neighbors and local people informed Iti’s husband and the police station. At night, the police came to the spot and broke the lock of the door of the house and recovered the body of Iti Begum from under the bed.
The deceased’s husband, Shafiqul Islam, said that although there was no child, there was no lack of love for his wife. He never even touched his wife. But Monirul, the tenant who was given a place in the house believing that he sent his wife away from the world, looted the house and went away. He wants Monirul’s hanging.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar police station in this regard. Saiful Islam said, Hasua used in the murder has been seized from the scene as evidence. The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
In this incident, the murder case is pending and the police operation is continuing to nab the tenant Monirul, who is on the suspect list. However, after the investigation, the real reason for the murder will be known.
