Three passengers have been detained at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport along with gold weighing about one kg. They were arrested in a joint operation by National Intelligence Agency (NSI) Chittagong Airport Team and Customs. On Monday (April 22) morning, three passengers detained in Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-148 arrived at Chittagong Airport from Dubai.
They are Mobarak Ali, a resident of Cox’s Bazar Chakaria Upazila, Mohammad Nazmul Haque, a resident of Satkania Upazila of Chittagong and Mohammad Anwar Shah, a resident of Sandwip Upazila.

According to airport sources, they arrived at Chittagong airport from Dubai this morning. Gold is pasted in cloth in a special way and wrapped in a blanket and brought from Dubai. After the arrest, these clothes are given to goldsmiths and burnt to bring out the gold.
Group Captain Taslim Ahmed of Shah Amanat International Airport said, “Three passengers who came from Dubai on a Bangladesh Biman flight in the morning brought gold by pasting it in a blanket. These three passengers have been detained. With the help of the goldsmith, the work is going on to bring these gold from the blanket to one place. It is believed to contain about one kg of gold.
