In Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar, a father and son were killed in firing by opponents over a consignment of cattle smuggled from Myanmar. It is said that they were killed due to a dispute between two dacoit groups.

The incident took place in front of Nazrul Islam’s tea shop in Moulvirghona area of ​​North Thoyingakata of Gorznia Union of Ramur on Sunday (April 21) around 1:00 pm. Acting OC of Ramu police station. Abu Taher Diwan confirmed this.

The deceased are Zafar Alam, the son of deceased Nurul Islam of the upazila area and his son Md. Salim.

The OC of Ramu police station said that according to local people, there are two groups of Abshar Dakat and Shaheen Dakat in that area. The two groups have long been in conflict over dominance and the smuggling of Burmese cattle. On Sunday night, 14 to 15 members of the Shaheen Dakat group went to the spot to cross the smuggled cows. There, 20 to 22 members of Abahar Dakat group ambushed with indigenous weapons and guns.

In this, Shaheen Group. Salim was shot and seriously injured. When Salim’s father Zafar Alam went to rescue his son, he was also beaten and shot. The local people rescued them and took them to the Naikshyongchari Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

The body was recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The OC also said that the police is conducting an operation to arrest those involved in the incident.
