RAB-10 arrested the bus driver involved in the bus-pickup collision in Faridpur in which 15 people were killed. Today Monday (April 22) at 11:30 a.m. in a press conference at Faridpur RAB camp, company captain Lt. Commander KM Shaikh Akhtar informed this information.
The arrested bus driver’s name is Md. Khokon Mia (54). He is Md. of Bade Bamondah village of Kot Chandpur in Jhenaidah district. Son of Delwar Hossain.
In the press conference, the RAB commander said, Khokon Miah was arrested from a hotel in Kot Chandpur area around 12:30 noon on Sunday after identifying the location with the help of information technology. On questioning him, it was revealed that he was tired due to continuous bus driving since 9 pm the previous day. Apart from this, the pickup driver also had some faults.
The investigation committee formed in this accident submitted the report after the investigation. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Mohammad Ali Siddiqui submitted the investigation report to Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar on Sunday night. The report identified tiredness and sleepiness of the bus driver after driving for a long time after Eid, over speeding of two vehicles, braking in its own lane on the highway and presence of autorickshaws on the highway as the reasons for the accident.
On April 16, 15 passengers of the pickup were killed in a collision between a bus and a pickup at Kanaipur’s Dignagar on the Faridpur-Khulna highway. Imamul Sheikh, the brother of Iqbal Sheikh, who was killed in this incident, filed a case in Kotwali police station as the plaintiff.
