Daily education.com, DU: Sawad (19), a first-year student of philosophy department, died while taking a bath in the swimming pool of Dhaka University.
The incident took place at the swimming pool adjacent to the central playground of DU on Monday (April 22). His classmates brought him unconscious to Dhaka Medical, where doctors declared him dead at 2:00 am.
Classmate who brought him to the hospital. Sohag said that many students of DU were taking a bath in the swimming pool in the afternoon. Many people were swimming there from one side to the other. Then they saw everyone surrounding Swaad. If you go ahead, you will know that he drowned in the water of the pool.
They immediately rescued him and brought him to Dhaka Medical. But the doctor declared him dead after examination.
Sokkari in charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp. Masud confirmed the death. He said that Soad’s body has been kept in the morgue. The incident is being investigated by Shahbag police station.
Soad’s home is in Bogra district. He is a 1st year student of philosophy department. Stayed at Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall. His classmates said that he knew how to swim. However, he could not tell how he got into the water.
Molla Taimur Rahman, a student of DU, said that Swaad is his junior. Watching the crowd while bathing in the swimming pool. Then the classmates were trying to force out the water by pressing his stomach. None of the staff or authorities there were of any help.
He said, he came to know from Sowad’s batchmates that he was suffering from respiratory problems. That is why he may suddenly fall ill while taking a bath despite knowing how to swim.
