A student died after taking a bath in the swimming pool of Dhaka University.
The student’s name is Swaad Haque (19). He is a first year student of philosophy department.

This incident took place in the swimming pool adjacent to the central playground of DU on Monday around 2:15 pm. His classmates brought him unconscious to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical Center, where doctors declared him dead around 2 pm.
Classmate who brought him to the hospital. Sohag said that many students of DU were taking a bath in the swimming pool in the afternoon. Many people were swimming there from one side to the other. Then they saw that everyone was around the edge of the swimming pool. If you go ahead, you will know that Soad was drowned in water. Immediately after taking him to Dhaka Medical, the doctor examined and declared Swad dead.
Molla Taimur Rahman, another student of DU, said that Swaad was his junior. While taking a bath in the swimming pool, when Pare saw the crowd, it was his classmates who were trying to force out the water by squeezing his stomach.
Sowad’s classmates found out that he had breathing problems. That is why despite knowing how to swim, one may suddenly fall ill and die while taking a bath, he said.
Soad’s home is in Bogra district. He lived in Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall. His classmates said he knew how to swim. But he could not say how he got into the water.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp Assistant Incharge Md. Masud said that when classmates took a student to the hospital in an unconscious state from DU’s swimming pool, doctors declared him dead. The body of the student has been kept in the morgue. The incident is being investigated by Shahbag police station.
Dhaka University Physical Education Center Director Shahjahan Ali told The Daily Star, ‘The student fell unconscious after getting hurt after jumping into the water. After that he was brought to the hospital and the duty doctor declared him dead.
