Sirajganj: The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has revealed the mystery of the sensational murder case of Subarna (8) that happened 7 years ago in Chowhali, Sirajganj.
Eight youths and teenagers took turns to rape and kill Subarna by twisting a veil around her neck – this is what the investigation has come out.
Three people involved in the incident have been arrested.
The arrested are – son of Abdul Haque of Dattakandi village of Chauhali upazila. Chhabbir Hossain (20), son of Arfan member of the same village. Shakib Khan (21) and Bachir member’s son Milan Pasha (27). Among them, Chabbir and Saqib have given a confessional statement in the court.
Police Superintendent of PBIA told the details of the shocking incident in a press conference held at his office on Monday (April 22). Rezaul Karim.
He said that on the morning of March 27, 2017, the police recovered the body of Subarna from Char in Madhya Shimulia of Chauhali Upazila. Subarna’s father said in this incident. Shukur Ali became the plaintiff and filed a murder case against the unknown accused. When the police investigated the case and submitted the final report, the plaintiff filed a complaint in the court. The court directed the PBI to investigate the case.
On December 4, 2020, PBI SI Ashikur Rahman took charge of the investigation. During the investigation, on the basis of information technology and intelligence, on April 19, the victim’s cousin Md. Chhabbir Hossain (20) was arrested. According to the information given by him, Arfan member’s son Shakib Khan was arrested from Dattakandi Shole Bazar on the same day. Earlier, Milan Pasha, the main hero of this incident, was detained and interrogated, but no accurate information was received from him.
However, the main secret of the incident came out during the interrogation of arrested Chhabir and Shakib Khan. In the interrogation, it is known that on March 26, 2017, they went to the Dattakandi High School ground along with six others to watch the cultural program of the Great Independence Day. There Subarna is seen playing with her cousin Chhabbir. That’s when they plan to rape Suvarna. According to the plan Milan Pasha and the rest of the accused along with Shakib ask Chhabbir to take his cousin Subarna to Madhya Shimulia Char. Later in the evening, Chabbir and Shakib took Subarna to Madhyasimuliya pasture. The rest of the accused were already staying there. After that, eight people took turns to rape Subarna’s hands and feet. At one stage Suvarna became dull. Then she cries and tells everyone about the incident. In this situation, the accused thought of their own danger and planned to kill him. According to the plan, he strangled her by wrapping her veil around her neck. Then sprinkled soil on the body and ran away.
The PBI SP also said that Subarna went to Dattakandi High School on the afternoon of March 26 to watch the Independence Day programme. The family members think that Subarna is in her aunt’s house near the school. Didn’t even search for it. His body was found the next day. During the PBI investigation, after reviewing the autopsy report and post-mortem report, Suwarna was strangulated to death. Blood in his private parts is also collected as evidence. A DNA test on Alamat found traces of Siemens on the clothes he was wearing. It can be confirmed that Suvarna was raped before being killed.
He said that at the time of the incident Chhabir, Shakib and another accused were aged 12 to 13 years. The rest of the accused were youths. Their names cannot be released for the sake of investigation.
